Forever Diamonds

Working on a new pattern using just scraps. For now this is as large as its going to get 52x52.

Eventually I will be making this into a bed size quilt with 4 color choices.

I don't like to buy expensive fabrics until I decide if the pattern works or not.  So I raid my scraps and stash do the prototype first and proceed to make yet another quilt.

Still needs to be quilted but here's the first look at FOREVER DIAMONDS

Who needs a wall hanging???????????????

I don't need another one, so this is going to someone in my family.

Maybe will get quilted and bound tomorrow.  I'm done for the day.

Its Sewing With Kylee Friday

Looks like I will be Sewing with Kylee on Fridays.  It has become routine for me to get a call to pick her up so she can spend the day with me and sew.

I love it

We had to purchase the buttons for her sister's tote.  Sewed them on and now she has started Christmas presents for her family.  I cant mention who gets what as they might read this.  So until Christmas comes we cant post any pictures of what she is working on.

I can show you her and her sister's finished tote.

She just has to goof off when getting her picture taken.

While she was busy on her projects I was busy arranging and rearranging a new quilt design I'm working on.

No name  yet,  any suggestions, I'm stumped:

Oh and Kylee has already picked out the pattern for her NEXT quilt she wants to work on.

Good Job Teri

Teri is a "newbie" to quilting.  How long is a quilter considered a "newbie"?  I don't think there is a guideline for this, but in my opinion, Teri is no longer a newbie.

She has grown with each quilt top she makes.  Taking charge with out fear to create beautiful quilts.  She has shown she has a great eye for color and I always enjoy doing her long arm stitching for her.

This is her newest quilt.

Three Bag Full

Well they aren't Full, but hopefully some customer will fill them soon.

back of black and white

I love the black and white one.  I used scraps I had from quilts and pieced all together to get the right size. I think it turned out GREAT.

Now for getting back to long arming a customer quilt

Kylee's Sewing Again Today

We put the label on her quilt today.   She wrote the label out with her name/my 1st quilt and date.

I was doing hand applique and she asked if she could learn that.  She finished putting on the label herself and her stitches looked better than mine. (no pics)

She wanted to do more sewing so she picked out more fabs from my scraps and stash and she made another tote bag.  This is for her big sister's upcoming birthday.  We just have to get the buttons for it and it will be finished.

Another fantastic job.

Oh by the way I made a tote tooooooooo yesterday.

I think Ky and I are gonna have to go into business together.

Margie's Bloomers

I know 2 posts in one day.  Just couldnt wait to show you Margie's  challenge quilt Bloomers.

See what a difference choice of colors makes.  I LOVE THIS ONE.  She requested a simple stitching, and now I wish I had made that choice for mine.  Although I like mine, I really like hers.

My Bloomers

The Challenge Quilt Is Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is the quilt that took 20 hours just for the blocks and then additional time putting it all together.

It took me another 15 hours to quilt.

Finished the hand sewing on binding yesterday and now mine is complete.

I did mine a little different for sashing, I mitered scrap pieces to sew rows together.  Personally, I like to use the ends of fabrics from the Buggy Barn cuttings and use them in my sashings rather than one focus fabric.  But that's just me.  Waste not want not, right?

Customized stitching, each block done separately with circle center, swirls on petals, and loops surrounding bloomer.  Borders were done with swirl and points and loops for small borders and sashing.

For some unknown reason, my color choices lately have leaned toward purple.  I don't know why, because its really not one of my favorite colors.  Don't get me wrong, I like purple, but not normally my first choice in colors. It just seems lately, purple is the color called for in some of the patterns I am working with.

I have another bloomers to quilt for one of my customers, she brought it over last night.  Wait until you see that one.  Each person in the challenge is using different color choices and each quilt looks completely different because of that.

On August 6th, at Loose Threads Quilts Shop, all the BLOOMERS will be hung for display and Peoples Choice judging.  No names will appear on the quilts, people can vote for their favorite quilt without knowing the quilter.    After that these quilts will be hung as a group, at the October 22nd Edgerton Quilt show.

Now that the challenge is done for me, I have to decide what to do with this quilt.  Do I keep it or give it away.  And if I give it away, to who?????????

Ky's Quilt Finally Done

Kylee came over and added her borders and I finished the quilting this morning.

She was pretty specific on what stitching she wanted on HER quilt.  She chose orange thread for the front and turquoise for the bobbin.   Can you imagine how picky she is going to be as she becomes an experienced quilter.

Because she is a newbie, I sewed the binding on for her and did a machine binding front and back with a fancy stitch.   Next time I think she will be ready to do the binding herself.

GOOD JOB KYLEE, LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING ANOTHER ONE WITH YOU.

Sneak Peek

Kylee  came over today she finished putting on her borders of her scrappy NEON quilt.

Here is a sneak peak before I quilt it.

That's all I'm gonna show you for now.  Will do a full picture once its quilted.

She is so happy with it, we celebrated with a piece of choc Oreo cake.

Busy Day

My day started at 6 this morning and finished at 4 this afternoon.

Put in a full day - now its time to cook dinner.  Wish I had a maid.

First thing this am, customer brought an adorable baby quilt to stitch.

Each corner has a cute little heart.  I stitched around the appliques as requested, and using a high loft polyester batting, created a "trapunto" look. So cute.

After finishing quilt received a call, NEED A BAG BY TOMORROW can you rush an order?

A quick trip to quilt shop for the buttons, finished this pretty aqua and lime green tote.

Sewed the buttons on scrappy red and black

Tomorrow, maybe I can quilt my Buggy Barns Bloomers.  Maybe

One of these days I am gonna make myself a tote.  So far, they sell as fast as I make them.

Alice's Bloomers

Buggy Barn pattern

Alice met the challenge and completed her "Bloomers" quilt.

I finished the quilting today, totally customized stitching.

wiggle flower center of block

borders swirls and points, sashing claim shells

petal points small wiggly flower

small meandering/stippling outside the petals

I think it turned out beautiful.  As you know Buggy Barn patterns are a stack, slice and shuffle method and some are very difficult to do.  This is one of those most difficult.

There are several of our group doing this pattern, and they all say the same thing. NEVER AGAIN,  There are 44 pieces in each block, and each block took an hour to sew.

I have my top sewn, but not quilted yet.

Now that I have this one quilted, I have to decided on how I want mine quilted.  Don't want to replicate this, but I really like the way it turned out, so might doing something similar to mine.

Alice said she hates her quilt, but I told her, once quilted she might like it.  I Do.

Several UFO[s In Progress

Have not posted anything for a few days.  Family parties/commitments for the weekend, so little or no sewing went on.

Today I went to sewing room and realized, spreading it a little thin.  I am working on 2 quilts at the same time and still need to finish Ky's.

We went shopping for her backing last week, and she made her choice:

I let her pick several choices, and she is a SHOPPER.  Looking at colors and prices, she decided this is the one she liked the best.

Still have to put on a border before I can quilt it, and hopefully, she will be able to finish this week.

Next: New Stepping Stones quilt with fq's I purchased over a year ago

Also on design board is new pattern I am working on "Square Dancing" used all the purple I had so will have to purchase more to finish a full quilt.

I moved squares around from Square Dancing, and have even more new blocks coming:

Sewing a new tote from scraps available, just need buttons and its finished
Behind tote are 2 quilts ready for me to do the quilting:

So, as you can see, I have not been idle, just need to focus on one at a time and get something finished.
