Pastel Colored Lightning Strike

Finally after months of procrastinating, and interruptions I have finally completed AND QUILTED the multi colored Lightning Strike quilt.

When I finished sewing the top, was not that happy with it, but now that its quilted, it looks a whole lot better.  Its just one of those quilts that has no personality (my opinion) until its quilted.

Just have to put on binding and its ready for my booth at the show Oct 22, Edgerton (just in case you forgot).  This is my quilt so I don't feel its necessary to do the hand sewn binding, I am going to do the machine binding on this quilt. 

Either I am getting lazy in my old age, or changing my mind, but since I started doing a few machine bindings, with a fancy stitch, I like the way they look.  If, however, I was entering in a judged show I would most definitely do a hand sewn binding.

Last night was the Edgerton quilt committee meeting and we are all set to go.  Turned in my tickets for raffles, donated 7 patterns for the raffle baskets. 

There must be other people procrastinating as well, as there aren't as many quilts entered as last year, so committee is extending the entry date to the last possible moment.  Which means a quilt could still be entered a day or 2 before the show as long as a phone call was made to the committee and setting a time to drop off your quilt(s).

Lets get those quilts entered!!!!!

This Was Not A Day Of Rest Sunday

Anything but restful today.  Up and worked out a new pattern.  Yes I was supposed to be taking a break from new patterns, but I had a brain storm on something new to an old tried and true.  Had to sew a few blocks to see if its going to work and yes it is.  Rummaged through the Hugh stash that Dee Dee gave me and I have enough to do another quilt. Whoo Hoo.

Cut fabric for a Turning Twenty Quilt for Nettie.

Kylee came to sew today.  She is doing a bag for Nettie, who by the way is paying Ky to do this for her.  Kylee is "over the moon" excited.  "Over the Moon"  I got this saying from a dear lady I talk to through Connected Threadz. She is from Australia (the one that sent me the beautiful fabrics).  I simply love her expressions.

Kylee finished the bag and then on to putting a binding on her Zebra print wall hanging.

She is such a smarty pants.  First time sewing on a binding and I showed her the first corner, how to sew to end, miter fold fabric and begin again.  Left her to sew the side on and told her to let me know when she met the next corner.  Little stinker did the second corner all on her own without even asking me, and she did it perfectly.   She has trouble doing the hand sewing, so I showed her how to do a front machine sewn binding with a fancy stitch.  No problem for her.

Her mind is like a sponge, she retains everything. 

Next weekend we drop off our quilts at the quilt committee collection center and she is all but ready to do this.  Just have to put on sleeves on the backs of her 2 quilts, type up an information and description [paper to be put with each quilt and she will be ready.

I wish I could say the same for me.  I still have 2 of my own quilts to put on my LA and quilt them and put their bindings on.  Oh and I haven't done any of the bags I'm hoping to have finished by then.

I might have to get Ky to make me some bags.  If I had 2 sewing machines here, we could crank a couple out next weekend.

Lexi's First Birthday

As you know I take about the worst pictres ever, so I took mostly videos at the party

I did take a few pictures but for the most part, they turned out like my usual yuck

She did like her fleece blanket and hugged it, but I didnt get that picture (of course)  thats another reason I took videos, I can at least keep it running while she is busy moving about, mostly showing me the back of her head in pictures.
Next opportunity I will have will be Thanksgiving

Lexi Is One Year Old

Baby Lexi turned age 1 Oct 5th, and we are going to her birthday party Saturday.

I made her a fleece blanket for this special occasion.  Each of my little ones have gotten one of these, and they love them, except Tavyn. I must get one made for him.    That is big on my to do list.

I had made him a special quilt when he was born, but haven't done the fleece one yet.  This I just realized when I went back into my memory bank.  Oh so many projects and so little time.

Today is a special day for me.  I ordered my very own Barn Quilt using my own block design.  However, the cut off date for ordering was Sept 30, so I wont get mine until spring sometime around March. Sigh!!!! Knew I should have done this before.   Bff Nettie and I took the drive to Evansville and placed the order. Going to use Stepping Stones block using Burgundy red center, with black and grey colors for the small squares and outside points. 

Cant wait, but I guess I will have to

Package from Australia

It finally came and I am in love with my fabrics

I have an Internet friend, from Australia, met her through Connected Threadz.  She wanted one of my patterns, but because of the money rate exchange it would have cost her too much to send me a check.  So we made a trade, my pattern and she sent me fat quarters from Australia, I really really love these and want more.  I'm going to see if she will do another trade, but I think she should get 2 of my patterns,  I think she spent way too much money for the price of my pattern.
These are so pretty I don't want to cut into them, just yet.  Some day a pattern will come to mind and these will be perfect.

A Tree, A Moose and A Moon

New customer brought this quilt to me to do a semi custom job.  Just simple blocks with appliques, one of those quilts that looks nice, but then when quilted it looks even better.

All flannel blocks, this is going to be one cozy quilt for someone.  Started this yesterday,  finished just a few minutes ago. 

Sent another Pattern to Sandi to work her magic, Lightning Strike is finally going into print, that is if she can help with the cover photo.  Otherwise, I have to get some better pictures. Yeah like I can do that.  Stupid me and stupid cameras.

No Sew Saturday

Well not much anyway.  The most I accomplished splicing together some batting.  Have so many large pieces, but not large enough, thought I would splice a few together to be used for no so special quilts. You know those that can be tossed around on floor watch TV by little ones, or sloppy, not too old hubby, or wall hangings. 

Necessary to put some of these together, my cupboard overflowed with small pieces falling out.

New customer came this afternoon, and I wanted to clean my sewing room, so she wouldn't run out the door screaming, "I'm not leaving my quilt in that mess"

After doing a really good clean job, Dee Dee, Kylee and I went to Clinton, Twin Turtle Quilts shop to see how her grand opening was going.  Kylee wanted to see her shop.

I, of course took more pictures, some of her pieces I had missed the other day:

She had mine displayed very nicely.

Back to the house, to meet up with new customer.  She brought a very nice flannel patch, with appliqued Pine Tree, Moose, and Moon.  Of course I didn't have the right color for the tree, so Ky and I back in the car to find the right color, @ Life's A Stitch.  Didn't have exactly what I wanted, and yes I could have waited until Monday to go to At The Heart of Quilting in Beloit, where I can always find just the right color, but I decided, by the time and gas going to  Beloit, might just as well spend the extra money at LAS and get started tomorrow.  She would very much like to have this finished by Friday, no problem, if I get right on it tomorrow, should have done by Monday, even with the little bit of customizing I have to do.

Now comes to the boring part, WALMART, I hate shopping at that store, but sometimes its the only place I can get some of Wayne's supplements he needs at a reasonable prices.  NOT!  While there I thought might as well do my grocery shopping, instead of stopping yet again at Piggly Wiggly.  Again, NOT.  Checking prices in comparison to bargain shopping at Pig, believe me Walmart is a hugh rip off.  I had some items in my cart and finally after knowing the price difference, I told Ky to empty out most of it and off to Pig Weee go.

First to Walgreen's to pick up more items for Wayne, and I find his supplement on sale for less than Walmart price. UGGGGGHHHHHHH.  Finally finished the shopping at Pig, home to unload and cook the dang stuff.

Did I mention (pretty sure I have) I hate grocery shopping!!!!! Or any kind of shopping, with the exception, of course, fabric shopping.
