Hearts to Hearts

Another Christmas has come and gone.

Wayne and I took a trip to Janesville, looking for a new prelite artificial tree.  Ours gave up on us this year and half the tree lights blew out.  Must be a short, so not going to use anymore.  Heading for the curb/junk day.

Anyway, went looking and I cant believe the prices on some of these trees. At 50% off still $90.00 and up.  I have/had a cute little 6ft that cost me $20.00 5 years ago.  I know that seems cheap, but it worked for us.  Once its decorated looks as good as the $100 or more trees.  So, I'm gonna look around for another cheap one.

While hitting every store in Janesville, what do I find?   Valentines day has arrived in stores.

Funny, I have been working on place mats for our quilt guild.  February meeting we are doing a valentine exchange.  Thought I was rushing it, working on them in December, but according to the stores I'm way behind. Imagine that.

I better hurry and start working on Easter or I'll be late for that too.  How silly.

Smiling Again

And alls it took was quality time with my family.

Had a great Christmas with the family  Merry Christmas to all

Christmas On Sunday

Because some of our family has other commitments for Christmas Eve and Christmas, we are going to celebrate the family Christmas today.

Family time, eat, kids open presents, clean up a little and then watch the Packer Game.  Sighhhh.

I had been very down in the dumps for past 2 days.  I really cant feel like Christmas when Wayne and I just sit at home and do the same things we do the other 365 days of the year. Get up eat breakfast, clean up the house, do laundry, make beds etc, you know the routine.  Spent last 2 days doing this and watching movies on TV with Wayne.   No friends no family, just us.

Yes I know I'm complaining for no good reason, but for some reason this year it really bothered me that we weren't doing anything on Christmas.    This really isn't any different than any other year in the past.  We haven't been able to celebrate Christmas on Christmas for 6 years.  Always have to maneuver our Christmas to fit in with other family members plans.

I know for sure, next year I am going to make plans, even if it isn't with all of the family.  I'm going to plan a Christmas dinner for those that are around and have no other commitments.  I am NOT going to sit around and watch TV for 2 days without spending some time with some of my family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, and even better NEW YEAR

Star Light Star Bright

This is my second attempt at making an original design.  Stack and Slice method.

So far have most of blocks done, and laid out on my design board.   Only two more blocks to go and then I can put it together.

stars up

stars up and stars down

Here's the dilemma, can't decide if blocks should all be one way stars up, or switch every other block to stars up stars down.  Or I could  just turn it all up side down and have all stars down. Hmmmmm.  I just realized with this pattern, I could do 3 different quilts and have 3 different looks.

Sashing is not where its supposed to be yet, just laid up there to see what I want to do with it.

Any suggestions stars up or stars up and down.
